FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: The Mark and Shelly Wilson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation is pleased to announce that John Miller, President and Chief Executive Officer for the Denny’s Corporation, will be the first Innovator-in-Residence.
John Miller is the President/Chief Executive Officer for Denny’s Corporation and the vice-chairman for the Wilberforce University Board of Trustees. John Miller is President and Chief Executive Officer for the Denny’s Corporation and is responsible for leading the strategic direction of the company. John joined Denny’s in February 2011 and is an accomplished restaurant industry veteran, bringing more than 35 years of restaurant operations and management experience to the national diner chain. Prior to joining Denny’s, John served as CEO of Taco Bueno Restaurants, Inc. He also spent 17 years with Brinker International where he held numerous management positions, including President of Romano’s Macaroni Grill and President of Brinker’s Mexican Concepts, responsible for overseeing On the Border and Cozymel’s. John is a member of Denny’s Board of Directors.
Under Mr. Miller’s leadership, Denny’s has become a strong supporter of innovation in Education, founding Denny’s Hunger for Education Scholarship Program and raising millions of dollars to end childhood hunger in America through the Dine Out for No Kid Hungry Charities – because when you’re hungry, you can’t learn! John also serves on the Spartanburg Academic Movement Board in Spartanburg, SC, a cradle to career effort.
In addition, to his business acumen, Mr. Miller led such innovations as “The Den” a millennial-focused spin-off of Denny’s primarily located in college/university areas. Wilberforce University’s Innovator-in-Residence will engage students, faculty, and community members as they develop ideas for change and transformation through group sessions with emerging innovators, mentorship, and a campus-wide engagement program. John Miller, President/Chief Executive Officer for Denny’s Corporation states:
