Our book catalog at WU is our automated database OPAL which has been under intensive development since 1994 and has been available since late 1998. Wilberforce, under the leadership of President John L. Henderson, was one of the first private colleges to join OPAL (Ohio Private Academic Libraries) in the development through OHIONET of a cooperative automated catalog. Today OPAL enables 19 of its 20 members to participate in OHIOLINK. The OPAL catalog has over one million books. These records are joined with the 25 million records in the OHIOLINK virtual library catalog to create an outstanding resource shared by participants and members. OhioLINK -- Contact a library staff member about an internet connection to search the OhioLINK Catalog, which includes the unified library holdings of about 80 Ohio universities, colleges, and community colleges, including the OPAL libraries and Central State University, Wright State University, Sinclair Community College, Clark State Community College, Cedarville College, and the University of Dayton.
You can use OhioLINK to identify outstanding books in subject area, referring to the "tables of contents" in many OhioLINK records. Always look to see if WU or another OPAL library owns the book, ready to loan to you.. You may also request assistance in securing books from other libraries. Ask a librarian.
