Admission
Admission of freshmen to Wilberforce is based on:
- High school grade-point average of 2.00 or above.
- Rank in the upper two thirds of class.
- Completion of a minimum of 15 units of credit in high school
courses including the following:
- 4 units of English
- 2-3 units of Mathematics
- 2 units of Social Studies
- 3-5 unites of additional courses (In some combination of
computer science, fine arts, foreign languages, or further
courses in the above areas.)
- Two letters of recommendation as follows:
- One letter from a teacher (preferably an English teacher)
- One letter from a school administrator (principals,
guidance counselors, deans)
- A complete five-paragraph type-written essay entitled
"What Goals I Plan to Accomplish Through a College
Education."
We encourage you to apply early, especially if you are seeking
financial aid and residence hall accommodations. The priority
deadline for applying is June 1st for the fall semester and November
15th for the spring semester. You can request an application package
from the Office of Admissions or apply online. High school juniors
with outstanding academic records may apply for early admissions,
allowing them to waive their senior year of high school and enroll
full time at Wilberforce.
Apply Procedure
Your completed application file should include:
- Your official high school transcript showing grades received
in all courses from ninth grade on and your rank in class or the
results of your GED.
- Results of the ACT or SAT (this may already be on your high
school transcript). All testing should be completed by January
for fall/August admission. It is not necessary to wait until all
of the required tests have been taken before submitting your
application.
- $20.00 application fee ($25 if your application is submitted
after deadline).
Upon acceptance you will receive a letter of acceptance, a permit
to register, and a health information form. Within two weeks of
acceptance, all students must pay a nonrefundable $25 Matriculation
Fee.
