What is Online Learning?
Many times the term “Online Learning” is used synonymously with distance education, e-learning, distance learning, or applied to a range of other learning activities delivered at a distance through technology. Online Learning at Wilberforce University is a formal instructional delivery system utilizing contemporary technologies where the students and faculty are separated by time and/or distance.
Online courses at Wilberforce University are completely online and require no face-to-face or classroom attendance. Online courses still meet the same learning objectives as their counterpart face-to-face courses and are just as rigorous. Online courses are not easier than face-to-face courses.
Online courses at Wilberforce University are offered through a Course Management System (Blackboard). Additionally, Wilberforce University online courses utilize processes that verify the identity of a student enrolled in our online courses. These processes include the use of a secure login and password to access online courses.

Blackboard is an online collaborative learning system that is utilized for all Wilberforce University online courses. Blackboard allows instructors to deliver course content (syllabi, documents, video clips, audio, images, etc.) to their students, post grades, hold online discussions, give quizzes, conduct surveys, post announcements, create student group areas, and more.
Your Blackboard “Username” will be the first part of your Wilberforce University email before the “@” sign. Your “Password” will be your Wilberforce University student ID number with the zeroes. Please change your password once you login. Once you login then click on your course link in the “My Courses” window on the right.
