TRIGEMINAL BACKGROUND
The focal point of Trigeminal painting is the construction and creation of facial images which may be compared to the anatomy of a nerve which has a root; the nerve chain, and the nervous response as follows, the Root : Artist, the Nerve chain: Color, Line, texture, Expressions, Environment, the Response: is the Viewer. This approach to creating my works of art utilizes a variety of mixed media surface techniques, such as using dyed colored cloth, sculptural surface shapes, along with complexed compositional arrangements and designs. Those elements of creativity and symbolism present in Trigeminal painting render it an expressionistic style rather than any other style of artistic expression or creativity.
The faces or images are painted to convey the presence of all or any combination of the three areas of the basic facial features (eyes, nose, and mouth) without attempting to render a portrait.
As a result, I search to convey my impressions of how some individuals or groups of people, through a dual process, verbally communicate selected messages while, at the same time, withholding true emotions which are sometimes conveyed through expressions and gestures or are intuitively perceived from the environment created by the individual.
The root of a Trigeminal painting originates from me, the artist, creator. the nerve chain, its many parts are stimulated as I create on a blank canvas those essential components. The response that results from the viewer is the perception, understanding of the message.
