Scope

“Hands Don’t Just Rock the Cradle: Women’s Stories”

The conference will address the status and role of women from the era of Slavery in the Americas ( United States, Central and South America and the Caribbean) to the contemporary world. While on focus is slavery, topics and papers are not limited to slavery in Americas. Invited are academics, teachers, graduate students, researchers, and anyone involved in the roles, contributions, and the plight of woman globally. Of particular interest is that of women in the contemporary abolition movement.

Specifications

Proposals should not exceed 300 words from papers lasting 20 minutes. Please send your proposal and a brief curriculum vitae by due date to an e-mail as per contact/submission address. Final papers should follow MLA or APA format, and may be submitted CD of DVD and follow MS Word Format.

Additional Information

The organizations invite submission for panel discussion in any areas in interest in list of topics, or in other relevant areas. The conference will embrace literature, music, visual are, as will are critical analyses and interpretations of literary, philosophical, historical, and other types of texts and media.

The conference is being held at the first Historically Black institution of higher learning founded, owned and operated by African Americans. Rare and valuable materials in the university special collections and archives will be available for researchers by appointment. Located at the terminus of the Underground Railroad, tours will be available in addition to the conference tour.
