Tour and Visits to National Nuclear Security Administration Lab
Wilberforce University President Floyd H. Flake today welcomes to the University’s campus United States Senator George Voinovich. Voinovich, a former governor of the state and advocate for historically black colleges and universities in the Senate, is slated to visit the campus to meet with administrators and students during a campus tour and visits to labs.
In his announcement, Flake noted, “George Voinovich is a friend of Wilberforce University and other historically black colleges and universities. His friendship has been integral in my efforts to grow Wilberforce. Through his advocacy on all issues related to higher education, he has demonstrated an independence and vision so sorely needed in national debates on education policy in a uniquely competitive global economy.”
Voinovich has been particularly helpful to Wilberforce University during his tenure as governor and now during his service in the nation’s capital. “Senator Voinovich is a ‘go-to-person’ in Washington for this University. His efforts have always resulted in real, tangible results that have helped to meet the needs of students. We are eternally grateful for his friendship and service.”
Senator Voinovich will be available to the media on the University’s campus from 12:30-1:30 pm. The tour of the University will conclude in the University’s Health and Wellness facility in the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Disaster Response Laboratory.
