Guide To New Students
Campus Attractions
You are almost there…..August 2nd, marks the beginning of New Student Orientation and the beginning of the next Chapter of your life! ”Oh the Places You’ll Go" is the Theme of New student Orientation “fresh week” a MANDATORY weeklong program aimed to transition you into life as a Wilberforce University Student and welcome you to the Family!!.
The first day you arrive will provide time for you to take care of official business, move-into your residence hall, enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch, meet the president and members of the faculty and staff and become aquainted with your student Resident Assistant (RA) and student orientation advisor (OA). Your RA and OA will serve as mentors and student advisors to assist you with the ins and outs of life at college. The remainder of the week will be filled with equal amounts of academic and social programs and events. You will sit for placement tests, attend your first Academic Meeting, attend a prayer breakfast, spend a day at Kings Island Amusement Park, tour the library & computer labs, complete a community service project and participate in a variety of community building activities that will prepare you for life at Wilberforce and introduce you to the history and mission of our great institution.
The full schedule in detail is provided for you below. Please read through so that you are well aware of what will be required of your during “Fresh Week”. You will find that your attendance and participation at the week’s events will have you well prepared for your career at WU. Please note: Failure to report to campus for the start of New Student Orientation, may result in delayed registration and an overall unpreparedness for the start of your college career. Please contact Dean Parris Carter, Dean of Students, if you have questions or concerns about the program.
