Major Overview
Wilberforce University (WU) is unique because it is the only (HBCU) in the Midwest that offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in Rehabilitation. With its history of offering this degree, and membership in the rehabilitation Midwest and national networks, WU is in a strong strategic position to strengthen its master’s program in rehabilitation and increase the number of minorities entering the rehabilitation field as degreed professionals.
The 34 -year old Rehabilitation Services program demonstrate the successful implementation of a Rehabilitation Services program at the Undergraduate level. Under the leadership of the Directors of the program, a flexible Master’s Program geared for working professionals in rehabilitation as well as for those who can attend full time began in the Fall of 2004.
The new Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling Program has received formal authorization from the Ohio Board of Regents (OBR) and North Central Accreditation (NCA). We are also a candidate for Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE) accreditation.
